What is a domiciliary sight test?
A domiciliary sight test is where our Optometrist will carry out a sight test in a person’s normal place of residence, day centre or care home. Domiciliary sight tests are designed for people who have day to day difficulties in leaving their home. Our patient’s will benefit from a thorough eye examination in the their own surroundings to enable us to keep up with their essential eye health. Most of the essential equipment used for a sight test in practice has a portable equivalent. Our Optometrists who provide domiciliary services are experienced in examining people who have disabilities, or who have limited communication or concentration, and can adapt the sight test accordingly.
The Optometrist will also examine to determine whether any new glasses are required or any treatment/referrals are necessary. NHS sight tests are free of charge, patients who receive an NHS voucher will be entitled to free glasses for single vision or bifocal lenses, varifocals come with a small extra charge. The Optometrist will bring along a wide range of spectacle frames for the patient to choose from. Lens extra’s such as anti-scratch, anti-reflection and transition lenses also come with a small upgrade price.

Pre Cataract Assessments
Have you been told of cataracts affecting your eyes?
Signs and symptoms of cataracts include:
- Clouded, blurred or dim vision
- Increasing difficulty with vision at night
- Sensitivity to light and glare
- Seeing halos around lights
- Frequent changes in eyeglass or contact lens prescription
- Fading or yellowing...

Post Operative Cataract Assessments
Post-operative cataract assessments are for patients who have under gone cataract surgery over 4-6 weeks ago.
These assessments are to continue to maintain the success of cataract surgery.
Glaucoma Repeat IOP’S
If a patients IOP (pressure) reading is above 21mmHg then a repeated IOP test is required to take place within two weeks after initial test.
This is classed as a Glaucoma repeat IOP’S appointment. If the IOP’s are still above 21mmHg after this appointment, then a further appointment would be required in a Ophthalmology department.
